Project Description:
The owner, Thomson Consumer Electronics, needed several smaller scrubber systems for various gas streams at their manufacturing facility. Each required differing chemistry and varying flow rates. Our project team was selected mostly on past successful experience with the client. The designers had worked on several design-bid-build projects at various sites. Johnston Construction Company had also worked under the design-bid build format for Thomson. Our team was able to identify needs and coordinate with the owner and develop a response for each area. The modular units were designed and constructed to also impact the facility minimally during installation. We performed constructability assessments during the design of each system. We listened carefully to the customer and efficiently incorporated changes before and during construction. The method of delivery worked well to address the owner’s needs and to solve their problems, keeping a fast track schedule and maintaining economic feasibility. During construction, Johnston Construction took the lead role with responsibility for all material and equipment procurement, subcontract coordination, cost control, scheduling, and complete project coordination. A skid mounted scrubber system. A packed tower fume scrubber, FRP fan and recycle pump were assembled on a steel skid. The entire system was piped and wired, ready to install in the field. Only the process gas, electric power and plant water were required for operation. Our scope included the complete design and fabrication. The skid system includes level controls, pressure gauges, flowmeters, solenoid valves, motor starters and disconnects. A skid mounted scrubber system.
