Key Accomplishments

Johnston Construction Company

• Furnished a new degasification system designed to reduce volatile contaminants in the raw water.
• Designed the replacement equipment to address contaminants including MTBE, tetrachloroethene and benzene.
• Removed and replaced three existing gate valves feeding the degasifier system.
• Modified existing process piping to accommodate the replacement degasifiers and exhaust system.
• Modified existing ductwork where required for the new equipment configuration.
• Installed new process piping, valves and appurtenances associated with the replacement system.
• Constructed new reinforced-concrete equipment pads to support the replacement degasifiers.
• Repaired and upgraded the existing concrete floor within the Degasifier Room.
• Installed a heavy-duty, chemical-resistant floor topping system with slip-resistant aggregate.
• Sealed floor edges, wall interfaces and doorway areas with chemical-resistant sealant.
• Cleaned, prepared, primed and recoated existing piping and equipment within the Degasifier Room.
• Replaced deteriorated electrical conduit and wiring throughout the treatment plant.

• Furnished and installed a complete electrical system associated with the Aberdeen Water Treatment Plant upgrade.
• Rewired existing electrical circuits throughout portions of the operating treatment facility.
• Removed, relocated and replaced deteriorated electrical conduit and wiring serving existing plant equipment.
• Furnished and installed new electrical wiring and conduit for the replacement degasifier system.
• Provided power and control wiring for the new degasifier control panel.
• Connected the degasifier control panel to the plant’s existing emergency-power system.
• Furnished wiring and conduit for two motorized degasifier influent valves.
• Furnished wiring and conduit for two degasifier blowers.
• Furnished wiring and conduit for two degasifier drain solenoid valves.
• Installed electrical wiring and conduit for two degasifier flow meters.
• Installed wiring and conduit for two degasifier float switches.
• Installed wiring and conduit for two degasifier pressure switches.
• Furnished wiring and conduit for the motorized bypass valve serving the degasifier process.
• Provided electrical wiring for new ventilation equipment installed in the former scrubber room.
