Key Accomplishments
- ESD furnished and installed manual motor starters serving four heat-manifold pumps and three recirculation pumps.
- Six existing light fixtures were replaced and upgraded to LED technology.
- Six additional light fixtures were added to improve illumination and provide a safer working environment within the boiler room.
- Electrical interfaces were coordinated with the HVAC contractor responsible for replacing and wiring control panels CP-1 and CP-5.
- ESD supported electrical inspection, equipment startup, operational verification, project closeout, and preparation of as-built documentation.
- The controlling revised subcontract became effective November 1, 2024 and identifies Electrical Services Division, LLC as the electrical subcontractor, Johnston Construction Company as the contractor, Ron Owens as the ESD contact, and Dave Stiles as JCC’s site contact.
- The overall design-build project was performed for American Water Operations and Maintenance, LLC and involved rehabilitation of the wastewater treatment plant Administration Building Boiler Room and its associated mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- The project’s broader scope included replacement of the existing boiler, hot-water heater, recirculation equipment, blow-off tank, piping, valves, insulation, backflow-prevention equipment, controls, and lighting improvements.
- ESD’s work focused on the electrical demolition, power and control wiring, equipment connections, manual motor starters, lighting upgrades, electrical interfaces, inspection, startup support, and record documentation required for the renovated boiler-room systems.
- Before replacement equipment was removed, ESD coordinated electrical shutdowns, lockout procedures, and disconnection of the affected circuits.
- Equipment identified for replacement included disconnects, manual motor starters, light fixtures, pumps, water heaters, thermostats, and other connected boiler-room components within ESD’s scope.
- Lockout and demolition activities were coordinated with Johnston Construction Company, American Water, the HVAC contractor, and other project participants to maintain safe working conditions within the operating wastewater treatment facility.
Project Description
ESD performed electrical lockout and demolition for equipment being replaced within the existing boiler-room facility.
The project included reuse and extension of existing conduit and wiring to connect replacement mechanical and electrical equipment.
