Key Accomplishments
- JCC unloaded and coordinated installation of the replacement tank, disconnected piping from the existing tank, and reconnected the process piping to the new tank.
- Completed tank installation work in accordance with requirements associated with PA DEP certification of the above-ground registered FRP tank.
- Performed an inspection of the New Filter Plant raw-water traveling screen under a separate Glatfelter authorization.
- JCC installed a new pressure/vacuum relief valve supplied by Glatfelter on the facility's methanol tank.
- Installed a new 2-inch stainless-steel manual valve on the methanol tank vent line.
- Coordinated multiple plant-equipment improvements within the operating industrial facility while working directly with Glatfelter personnel.
- Johnston Construction Company served as Prime Contractor for process-equipment improvements at the P.H. Glatfelter Company plant in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. The primary work involved replacement of an existing FRP bleach-storage tank together with additional inspection and valve-installation work associated with the plant's water and chemical systems.
- The principal tank work involved replacement of the existing FRP bleach tank with a new Justin FRP tank. JCC was responsible for unloading the replacement tank when it arrived at the plant, disconnecting the piping from the existing tank, and reconnecting the process piping to the new tank following installation.
- The tank replacement also incorporated requirements associated with Pennsylvania DEP certification for an above-ground registered FRP tank. This required JCC to coordinate the tank installation and associated piping work so the replacement system could be returned to service in accordance with the facility's requirements.
- As part of the overall project, JCC also performed an inspection of the New Filter Plant raw-water traveling screen. The work was separately authorized by Glatfelter as part of the 2013 project.
- Additional chemical-system improvements involved the plant's methanol tank. JCC installed a new pressure/vacuum relief valve furnished by Glatfelter on the methanol tank, providing the required venting and pressure-relief component for the system.
- JCC subsequently installed a new 2-inch stainless-steel manual valve on the methanol tank vent line, completing another targeted improvement to the plant's chemical-storage system.
