Concrete Services Division

  • Concrete Services Division, LLC performed the specialized concrete work associated with the foundation for Virginia American Water Company’s new 2.5-million-gallon composite elevated water storage tank at the Hopewell Water Treatment Plant.
  • CSD furnished labor, form materials, tools, finishing supplies, curing materials, concrete accessories, and other resources necessary for its assigned forming and concrete-placement operations.
  • CSD’s scope included slab-on-grade forming, curved-wall forming, column forming, slab placement, wall placement, column placement, floating and screeding, machine-trowel finishing, pointing and patching, bag finishing, curing, concrete accessories, reinforcing-steel placement, mesh, and dowels.
  • The work included approximately 1,639.91 square feet of curved-wall formwork, approximately 334.06 cubic yards of wall concrete placement, approximately 48.31 cubic yards of tank-foundation slab concrete, and approximately 26.05 tons of reinforcing-steel placement.
  • CSD coordinated ready-mixed concrete purchased by JCC, concrete pumping, testing laboratory services, reinforcing-steel handling, and JCC-provided equipment required to support concrete operations.
  • CSD provided labor associated with concrete accessories including premolded joint material, waterstop, caulking, and related concrete-interface materials.
  • Anchor-bolt setting was included on a time-and-material basis, requiring coordination between CSD’s foundation work and the structural requirements of the elevated-tank system.
  • The concrete work was performed in accordance with the project contract documents, CSD control estimate, CB&I project specifications, and CB&I foundation drawings.
  • CSD’s work supported a major composite elevated-tank structure consisting of a reinforced-concrete foundation and support structure carrying a welded-steel tank with a minimum operating capacity of 2.5 million gallons.
  • Concrete Services Division, LLC performed the concrete-foundation portion of the Hopewell 2.5 Million Gallon Domestic Elevated Water Storage Tank project at the Virginia American Water Hopewell Water Treatment Plant.
  • The project site is located at 900 Industrial Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
  • Virginia American Water Company undertook the project to construct a new 2.5-million-gallon composite elevated water storage tank serving its Hopewell District water system.
  • The elevated tank was designed as a composite structure consisting of a reinforced-concrete foundation, a circular reinforced-concrete support structure, a domed concrete structural slab, a reinforced-concrete ring beam, and a welded-steel water-storage tank. The specifications establish a minimum net operating capacity of 2,500,000 gallons and an approximate height of 193.5 feet from finished-floor elevation to the tank overflow.
  • CB&I Storage Solutions LLC served as the Prime Contractor for the project.

Electrical Services Division

  • Electrical Services Division performed the electrical construction associated with Virginia American Water Company’s new 2.5-million-gallon composite elevated water storage tank at the Hopewell Water Treatment Plant.
  • ESD provided the electrical infrastructure necessary to support the elevated tank, including power-distribution equipment, conduit and raceway systems, power and control wiring, electrical connections, grounding and bonding, lighting, and associated field electrical work.
  • The electrical installation supported a composite elevated water-storage structure approximately 193.5 feet high from finished floor to overflow, with a minimum operating capacity of 2.5 million gallons.
  • ESD’s work coordinated with JCC’s larger civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation subcontract to CB&I and with the tank manufacturer’s structural and electrical requirements.
