Key Accomplishments

Johnston Construction Company

  • Johnston Construction Company coordinated construction around an operating wastewater facility where sewage flow had to remain uninterrupted throughout the project. The work required sequencing, shutdown planning, temporary bypass pumping, temporary/emergency power, temporary generator support, and coordination with Anne Arundel County operations personnel.
  • Johnston Construction Company completed mechanical, electrical, process piping, pump station equipment, controls, instrumentation, HVAC, plumbing, odor control, sewage grinder, Bioxide system, force main, site utility, startup, testing, training, O&M, as-built, and closeout work required to place the new pumping station into service.
  • Johnston Construction Company served as the contractor for Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works on the Jennifer Road Sewage Pumping Station Upgrade in Annapolis, Maryland. The project was constructed at the existing Jennifer Road Pump Station site and involved building a new 4.0 MGD conventional wet well / dry pit sewage pumping station while maintaining wastewater pumping operations during construction.
  • The project required careful sequencing because wastewater flow to the station continued throughout construction. Johnston Construction Company maintained pump station access and operations, coordinated shutdowns with the County, provided temporary bypass pumping where required, maintained temporary operational and emergency backup power systems, and coordinated all tie-ins so that the existing station remained operational until the new pumping station was tested, demonstrated, and ready for service.
  • The project also required clean-water testing before testing with actual sewage, followed by operational demonstration and performance testing before conditional acceptance. Johnston Construction Company coordinated equipment startup, testing, owner training, O&M manuals, spare parts, as-built drawings, special inspections, permit compliance, site restoration, and final closeout.
  • The Project Was Completed On 31st December,2019
