Lancaster City WWTP – South Train Flow Diversion Weir Gate Repair

Key Accomplishments

• JCC removed the existing damaged weir gate assembly to provide access for the required repair work.
• Installed the required replacement components on the existing gate and prepared the assembly for reinstallation.
• Reinstalled the repaired gate assembly within the existing South Train flow-diversion structure.
• Performed operational testing of the repaired gate to verify proper function following installation.
• Coordinated the repair within an existing operating wastewater-treatment facility and restored the gate to service.
• Johnston Construction Company served as Prime Contractor for repair of an existing weir gate at the City of Lancaster Wastewater Treatment Plant. The gate was part of the facility's South Train Flow Diversion system and is identified in Johnston's project records as a Fontaine Series 40 weir gate originally associated with the South Train Flow Diversion Project.
• The repair required JCC to remove the existing damaged weir gate, install replacement parts on the existing gate, and reinstall the repaired gate assembly. This approach allowed the existing gate system to be rehabilitated rather than replaced as an entirely new assembly.
• Following reinstallation, JCC performed operational testing of the gate to confirm that the repaired assembly operated as intended. The completed work restored the South Train flow-diversion gate to service as part of the plant's wastewater flow-control infrastructure.
• Johnston's project records identify John Lewis as both Project Manager and Superintendent for the work and confirm the City of Lancaster as the customer. The records also associate the repair with Contract No. 2008-13 and JCC Bid No. 13-041.
• The Project Was Completed On April 8, 2013.
