Key Accomplishments
- Added two W8x20 structural steel beams with Nelson studs to provide additional support for the replacement garage floor system.
- Installed 20-gauge structural galvanized metal decking as the permanent deck system beneath the new concrete slab.
- Reinforced the slab with one mat of #5 reinforcing steel at 12 inches on center, supported on 1-inch standard runner chairs.
- Placed a nominal 7-inch reinforced concrete slab using a 4,000-psi mix with fiber mesh and no air entrainment.
- Constructed the slab with the required drainage slope, varying from approximately 8 inches thick at the rear to 6 inches at the front.
- Provided a steel-troweled concrete finish suitable for the garage-floor application.
- Applied a high-solids cure-and-seal treatment to protect the newly placed concrete and support proper curing.
- Coordinated structural steel, decking, reinforcing steel and concrete placement as an integrated slab-on-deck replacement system.
- Completed associated landscaping restoration following the structural and concrete work.
- Managed permitting associated with CSD's contracted scope.
- Performed the project while maintaining the scope boundaries established by the subcontract, which specifically excluded engineering/stamped design, general site work and control-cut work.
- Concrete Services Division, LLC completed the garage slab replacement for Sue and Paul Nissley at their Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania residence. The work involved removing the existing garage slab and reconstructing the floor as a supported slab-on-deck system incorporating structural steel, galvanized metal decking, reinforcing steel and reinforced concrete.
