Pleasure Road Pump Station – 18-Inch Control Valve Sleeve Replacement

Key Accomplishments

• Provided the labor, equipment, operator support, bolting, gasketing, and associated materials required for completion of the valve work.

• Johnston Construction Company performed improvements to the Pleasure Road Pump Station for the Lancaster Area Sewer Authority under Purchase Order 28710000-00. The work centered on servicing the station's large-diameter control valve system through replacement of an 18-inch control pinch valve sleeve and associated mechanical and electrical work.
• The Lancaster Area Sewer Authority purchase order identified JCC's work as including labor, operator support, Red Valve components, nuts, bolts, gaskets, boom truck, pickup trucks, and electrical disconnect and reconnect. This established JCC's responsibility for both the mechanical valve work and the supporting field operations necessary to complete the replacement.
• For the replacement equipment, Johnston Construction Company procured an 18-inch Red Valve Series 5200 control pinch valve with a Buna-N full-port sleeve. The project-specific purchase order identifies the work as Pleasure Rd PS Valve Sleeve – Job 2014-19 and required the valve sleeve to be furnished in accordance with the manufacturer's cut sheet.
• The Red Valve Series 5200 is a large-diameter control pinch valve designed around a resilient elastomer sleeve. The sleeve forms the primary component in contact with the process media, while the valve body provides the structural support for the control assembly. The specified sleeve material for this project was Buna-N, suitable for the required wastewater-service application.
• The work also required coordination of the valve's electrical systems so that the existing equipment could be disconnected for the mechanical work and reconnected after completion. JCC's scope included the associated field labor and lifting support required to handle the large-diameter valve components and complete the work safely and efficiently.
• JCC's procurement documentation identifies John Lewis as Project Manager for coordination of the valve delivery and project equipment.
