Key Accomplishments
- The project included replacement of the existing vertical dry-pit sewage pumps with new sewage pumps, along with temporary bypass pumping capable of maintaining station operations while pump station equipment was removed, replaced, and returned to service.
- Johnston Construction Company coordinated the work in and around an active wastewater utility facility, including maintenance of traffic, protection of existing utilities and structures, erosion and sediment control, shutdown coordination, customer service requirements, safety/security requirements, as-built drawings, and final restoration.
- A major component of the project involved replacement of the existing pumping equipment. The specifications required removal of the existing vertical dry-pit sewage pumps and installation of new pumps designed around a 400 gpm capacity at 99 feet total dynamic head. The work also required coordination of bypass pumping, pump startup, testing, manufacturer services, and owner training so that the upgraded station could be placed into reliable operation.
- The project required careful attention to continuity of pump station operations. Temporary bypass pumping was required to handle peak flow while one or both existing sewage pumps were out of service. Johnston Construction Company coordinated work-hour restrictions, County shutdown requirements, utility coordination, maintenance of traffic, environmental protection, erosion and sediment controls, progress scheduling, as-built drawings, painting and coatings, and a one-year guarantee period.
- Johnston Construction Company completed the Riva Woods Sewage Pump Station Upgrade in accordance with the contract requirements, including testing, startup, training, as-built documentation, restoration of disturbed areas, and closeout.
