Sherony's Garage Structural Slab-on-Deck Construction

Key Accomplishments

• Furnished and installed two W8x20 structural steel beams with Nelson studs to support the new garage floor assembly.
• Installed 20-gauge structural galvanized decking to form the supporting deck beneath the reinforced concrete slab.
• Reinforced the slab with one mat of #5 reinforcing steel at 12 inches on center, supported on 1-inch standard runner chairs.
• Placed a nominal 7-inch concrete slab using a 4,000-psi mix with fiber mesh and no air entrainment.
• Constructed the slab with the specified slope, varying from approximately 8 inches at the rear to 6 inches at the front, to provide the required garage-floor profile.
• Provided a steel-troweled finish to the completed concrete surface.
• Applied a high-solids cure-and-seal treatment following concrete finishing to support proper curing and surface protection.
• Coordinated the structural-steel beams, metal decking, reinforcing steel and concrete placement as an integrated garage-floor structural system.
• Performed associated landscaping restoration as part of CSD’s contracted work.
• Managed permitting associated with the contracted garage-slab work.
• Maintained the project scope in accordance with the subcontract, which specifically excluded engineering and stamped design work, general site work, control cuts, and county or township requirements not incorporated into the proposal.
• Concrete Services Division, LLC completed the structural garage-floor work for Shelley and Dominic Sherony at their Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania residence. The project involved construction of a reinforced concrete slab supported by a structural-steel and galvanized metal-deck system.
