- The project included approximately 1,500 linear feet of 15-inch sanitary sewer, 5,560 linear feet of 12-inch sewer force main, approximately 386 linear feet of 8-inch water main, 175 linear feet of 12-inch water main, 5,505 linear feet of 16-inch water main, approximately 4,900 linear feet of 18-inch and smaller gravity sewer, and approximately 580 linear feet of 12-inch sewer force main. The project also included necessary structures and appurtenances to serve the Staunton Crossing development.
- JCC’s scope included providing labor, equipment, materials, and services to complete the Staunton Pump Station and Wet Well work in accordance with the project plans, specifications, engineer revisions, and JCC’s proposal. The pump station work included electrical and instrumentation systems, generator, automatic transfer switch, motor drives, panelboards, control panels, and conduit and wiring for the pump station.
- JCC furnished and installed the specified pump package with variable frequency drives and controls. The work also included furnishing and setting a 12-foot diameter precast wet well with a cast-in-place concrete anti-flotation collar, including exterior and interior coating on the wet well.
- The pump station piping scope included pump suction and discharge piping from the wet well to five feet outside of the building. JCC also furnished and installed the precast pump station building with man doors, six inches of stone under the building slab, concrete building slab, generator pad, and exterior stoops.
- JCC’s work also included building HVAC and plumbing, including unit heaters, fans, louvers, floor drains, and associated piping. Additional work included electrical construction, permanent material coordination, third-party concrete testing for structural pours, and coordination with Commonwealth Excavating, the City of Staunton, and Timmons Group.
- Through this work, Johnston Construction Company supported the Staunton Crossing Water and Sewer Extensions project by providing the pump station, wet well, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and equipment systems required for the new wastewater pump station serving the Staunton Crossing development.
Concrete Services Division
- Performed concrete forming, placement, finishing, and curing for the new Staunton BPS wastewater pump station.
- Coordinated concrete placement, testing, pumping, rental equipment, winter protection, and jobsite concrete support with Johnston Construction Company.
- The overall project included approximately 1,500 linear feet of 15-inch sanitary sewer, 5,560 linear feet of 12-inch sewer force main, approximately 386 linear feet of 8-inch water main, 175 linear feet of 12-inch water main, 5,505 linear feet of 16-inch water main, approximately 4,900 linear feet of 18-inch and smaller gravity sewer, and approximately 580 linear feet of 12-inch sewer force main. The project also included necessary structures and appurtenances to serve the Staunton Crossing development.
- CSD’s scope included furnishing labor, materials, and tools necessary for forming and concrete placement for the Staunton BPS in accordance with the project contract documents, selected process drawings, standard and supplementary conditions, submittal requirements, temporary facilities and environmental protection requirements, earthwork, concrete anchors, cast-in-place concrete, grout, and the CSD control estimate.
- The concrete work included forming, placing, finishing, and curing associated with the pump station building slab, generator pad, exterior stoops, and grout infill. CSD’s scope included mobilization and demobilization of concrete equipment, tools, and supplies; rental of form material; purchase of form lumber; installation and stripping of forms; concrete placement labor; concrete finishing labor and supplies; curing labor and supplies; and concrete accessory labor.
- CSD also performed slab-on-grade formwork, curved wall formwork, slab-on-grade placement, wall placement, grout placement, float and screed work, trowel finishing, curing, mesh, dowel placement, and equipment pad work. The contract included approximately 89 cubic yards of concrete work, 385.58 square feet of slab-on-grade forming, 703.72 square feet of curved wall forming, 45.36 cubic yards of slab-on-grade placement, 39.10 cubic yards of wall placement, and 4.19 cubic yards of grout placement.
- As part of the project, CSD coordinated concrete purchased by Johnston Construction Company, testing lab services paid for by JCC, concrete pumping services paid for by JCC, and rental of JCC and outside equipment paid for by JCC. CSD also included winter protection labor, placing dowels, concrete curing, concrete accessory material and labor, and coordination of blanket and heater placement where required.
- Through this work, Concrete Services Division supported Johnston Construction Company’s completion of the Staunton Crossing Water and Sewer Extensions project by providing the forming, placement, finishing, curing, grout, dowel, equipment pad, and concrete coordination required for the new wastewater pump station.
