Key Accomplishments
- Furnished the labor, materials and equipment required to remove approximately 250 linear feet of existing Schedule 80 PVC sulfuric-acid piping.
- Furnished and installed approximately 250 linear feet of Kynar PVDF chemical piping in place of the existing Schedule 80 PVC system.
- Installed the replacement PVDF piping generally along the same routing as the existing sulfuric-acid system.
- Reused the facility's existing pipe supports and mounting hardware where suitable for the new Kynar PVDF piping installation.
- Sequenced the chemical-piping replacement around the operating needs of the wastewater treatment facility, installing the new piping during first shift and tying the system back into the existing piping at the end of the workday so the chemical system could remain available for third-shift operation.
- Neutralized the existing chemical piping with a basic solution before each work shift as part of the procedures for safely performing work on the sulfuric-acid system.
- Reused the two existing pressure-relief valves serving the sulfuric-acid pumping system.
- Reused the two existing pressure-regulating valves located on the discharge side of the chemical pumps.
- Repaired two identified leaks on the inlet/suction side of the chemical pumps as part of the chemical-system repair work.
- Coordinated the replacement piping with the existing pumps, valves, supports and operating chemical-feed system rather than unnecessarily replacing serviceable existing components.
- Performed an additional emergency repair to a sulfuric-acid line feeding the DAF unit in the wastewater treatment plant, including both repair labor and required parts. Tyson documented this additional work under Repair Purchase Order No. 4510188272.
- Responded to the emergency chemical-line condition while maintaining coordination with Tyson's wastewater-treatment operations and existing chemical-feed infrastructure.
